As the second week started I was pretty much done with designing and began modelling. I did however keep an open mind to new ideas for props and additions i might come up with whilst modelling, overall though i was confident that what i had concepted was a good representation of the final enviroment.

I used 3ds Max to model the majority of the model, after hitting a brick wall with the base of the enviroment i went back to concepting to think about the sort of podium the enviroment would sit on, after sketching out ideas i decided on the new york city sidewalk scene. For these elements of the model i simply modeled a quick base mesh and then finally took them into zbrush to sculpt it some scuffs and wearing on the street, the paving and the rock the whole model actually sat on.

I spent the rest of the week mostly fiddling around with my models trying to create low poly versions ready to bake down to. Looking back it seems i wasted a lot of time creating models that were somewhere inbetween high and low poly, this meant I had to work from these and drastically cut down the tri count which ended up being quite time consuming. A better way of doing this would have been initialy creating the low polly, then working into these to create the highpolys, then i could of simply reverted back to my low polys for unwrapping and baking.
